Calls for a housing outreach office in north Leitrim



A Leitrim councillor says there is a need for a council office or outreach service in the north of the county to deal with queries on housing.

Sinn Fein Councillor Padraig Fallon called for the service at a meeting of the Manorhamilton Municipal District of the council.

The meeting heard that up to now, issues in relation to housing were dealt with saisfactorily for all of the county through the Carrick on Shannon offices.

However, with the rollout of the Housing Assistance Payment scheme, which is replacing the rent supplement scheme, the council IS considering providing a housing clinic in North Leitrim.

This would involve council housing staff visiting Manorhamilton and conducting clinics on a parttime basis every week.
