Book of condolence for Martin McGuinness open in Sligo, Leitrim



A book of condolence has been opened at County and City Hall in Sligo Town for the late Martin McGuinness.

The former deputy first minister of Northern Ireland passed away following a short illness on Monday night.

Sligo Cathaoirleach Hubert Keaney and Minister for Housing Damien English who was visiting Sligo have already signed the book.

In Leitrim, a book is being opened this evening by Cathaoirleach Mary Bohan in the council’s headquarters in Carrick on Shannon and will be available for the public to sign from tomorrow morning.

A Book of Condolence will also be available for the public to sign in the north of the county in the Area Office in Manorhamilton.

The funeral of Mr. McGuinness is due to take place in Derry tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Church leaders from across the divide in the North have been paying tribute to the late Martin McGuinness today.

The funeal of the former IRA leader turned Deputy First Minister will be held in Derry tomorrow.

The Catholic Bishop of Derry says he hopes people of all creeds reflect on his life in “ways that move all of us forward”.

Reverend David Lattimer of the First Derry Presbyterian Church became close friends with Martin McGuinness.
