Rovers lose out in Cork, but Harps claim first win

Sligo Rovers put in another improved showing in Cork last night, but came away with nothing from the league-leaders.

Kieran Sadlier’s second goal in two games had the Bit O’ Red in front on the night, but former Rovers players Steven Beattie and Seanie Maguire netted in response for John Caulfield’s side in Turner’s Cross.

Cork are now three points clear at the top, after reigning champions Dundalk suffered a 3-1 defeat to unbeaten Derry City in Buncrana.

Finn Harps’ first win of the season came with a superb 2-1 victory away to St Patrick’s Athletic.

Sean Houston and Ciaran O’Connor got the Harps goals.

Elsewhere, Bray beat Drogheda 2-1, Shamrock Rovers won 2-1 at Galway and former Bit O’ Red striker Dinny Corcoran bagged his third goal in a week as Bohemians won 1-nil at Limerick.
