Leitrim Cathaoirleach highlights importance of Paddy’s Day visit

The Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council believes the upcoming visit of councillors to America for St. Patrick’s Day is important for the future of each county.

The Cathaoirligh of Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo council’s as well as other representatives will be visiting New York for Paddy’s Day celebrations.

Leitrim will be represented by Fianna Fail’s Mary Bohan and CEO Frank Curran, Fine Gael councillors Terence Slowey and Barry O’Neill will represent Donegal while Hubert Keaney and CEO Ciaran Hayes will travel as part of the Sligo delegation.

There has been some criticism aimed at those travelling at a time when some say the money would be better spent on roads and infrastructure.

Ocean FM received no comment from the Cathaoirligh of Donegal and Sligo councils but Leitrim Cathaoirleach Mary Bohan says the trip is important to keep links to the ex-pat communities alive.
