Government looking at funding options for regional infrastructure



The Taoiseach says the government is currently looking at the European Investment Bank as another means of funding the development of infrastructure to the regions.

He made the comments in response to a query from Sligo Leitrim Fine Gael TD Tony McLoughlin on the progress being made on the idea of a Atlantic Economic Corridor.

It’s an initiative by a number of Chambers of Commerce including Sligo and Enda Kenny has confirmed that it’s first meeting is taking place on Monday.

The idea is that the corridor from Waterford through Limerick, Galway and onto Sligo would be developed as an alternative hub to Dublin and Cork.
