Fears for school bus services as result of Bus Eireann cuts

There are now fears that school bus services in the North West will be hit next as a result of planned cuts at Bus Eireann.

Siptu are holding a meeting with Bus Eireann at the workplace relations commission this Friday and if they are not happy with the outcome school bus drivers will be balloted.

Bus Eireann drivers are due to go on strike from next Monday morning and there are already fears that Irish rail drivers will refuse to cross the picket line at shared stations.

The company claim school buses are separate to the other services provided but unions disagree.

Speaking to Ocean FM Siptu’s Willie Noone says drivers will be balloted if Bus Eireann maintains that way of thinking.
