Pringle: Likely water will remain in public ownership



A Donegal TD says the likely recommendation from the Oireachtas water charges committee is another step closer to ensuring water remains in public ownership.

Independent Deputy Thomas Pringle who is a staunch anti-water charge campaigner is on the committee which has been tasked with making a recommendation to government on the future of domestic water charges.

The group is finalising a report which is to go before all TDs on the 13th of March.

Following yesterday’s talks it now looks likely that people who have paid water charges will be refunded, those who have NOT paid won’t be pursued and water will continue to be paid for through general taxation.
