68 patients waiting on trolleys in North West Hospitals



Two hospitals in the North West are among the worst effected by patients waiting on trolleys in the country.

36 people are waiting on trolleys at Letterkenny University Hospital, the second highest in the country behind Cork University Hospital according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

15 of those are in the emergency department with a further 21 in overflow areas of wards.

Saolta have confirmed to Ocean FM that the Full Capacity Protocol is in place at the hospital today with the public urged to only attend in the case of a real emergency.

There are 32 people on trolleys in Sligo University Hospital making it the third highest nationally with 23 of those in the emergency department.

Today’s Trolley Watch Report shows 444 people are waiting on trolleys at hospitals across the country.
