Northwest schools to contest soccer, GAA and basketball finals today



A number of schools from the northwest are contesting provincial finals this afternoon in various sports.

In soccer, Summerhill College will take on Rice College of Westport in the Connacht Senior Final at Milebush in Castlebar today at 1pm.

In Gaelic football, St Attracta’s Community School in Tubbercurry will contest the Connacht Junior A final against St Jarlath’s College of Tuam at the Connacht GAA Centre in Ballyhaunis today at 2pm.

It is the first of two Connacht finals for the school this week, with the senior side facing St Colman’s of Claremorris on Saturday.

Also today, two Donegal schools go head to head in the Ulster Markey Cup final.

Colaiste na Carraige were due to face Colaiste Cholmcille from Ballyshannon in Ballybofey’s Mac Cumhaill Park today, but that game has been rescheduled for Friday.

The Ursuline College are also due to contest a second years Connacht final in Ballyhaunis today, while Summerhill’s junior hurlers will also be in championship action.

And in basketball, St Catherine’s Killybegs will face Castlerea Community School in the U16 Girls All-Ireland C League final in Tallaght’s National Basketball Arena at 3pm today.
