Leitrim County Council is hoping to secure a capital grant scheme to carry out major work that is is needed on at least four bridges in the county.
Lennox Bridge and Killavoggy Bridge are two that need significant work and in some cases a new bridge.
Leitrim County Council says that the level of works required is much more than the rehabilitation works funding that they are getting each year from Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
As a result the Council has applied to the Department of Transport to see if the four bridges could be included on a capital funding allocation in the coming years.
