Sligo councillor says Enda Kenny’s expertise should be utitilised when he leaves office

The Taoiseach’s insisting he’ll deal with the issue of his leadership of the country at tomorrow’s Fine Gael parliamentary party meeting.

It’s understood the issue was raised briefly at this morning’s cabinet meeting.

Fianna Fáil is warning the situation can’t descend into a circus and wants clarity in the coming days.

Páraic Gallagher reports:

An Independent Alliance member in Sligo county council believes Enda Kenny’s political knowledge and connections must be harnessed when he leaves the office of Taoiseach.

The Mayor of Sligo told Ocean FM a position as minister for Brexit or advisor as part of discussions on Britain’s EU exit would be an ideal use of the Mayo TD’s skills.
