Plans need to be in place for an N56 upgrade

A Donegal councillor has said plans for an upgrade of the N56 road from Dunkineely to Bruckless need to be put in place as soon as possible.

Independent councillor Niamh Kennedy raised the issue at a recent meeting of the Municipal District calling on the council to speak with Transport Infrastructure Ireland about getting funding for works.

She says the road has far too many dangerous bends and is too narrow in places, especially considering it is used by walkers and school children on a regular basis.

TII funding for 2017 has already been allocated but councillor Kennedy says they need to approach for funding with a plan in place.
