A new pedestrian crossing at the entrance to the wine st car park is on the plans for Sligo county council.
A motion asking on the issue was raised at today’s Sligo municipal district meeting by Fianna Fail’s Tom MacSharry.
The councillor said that it is a particularly dangerous area of the town for pedestrians especially at weekends when there are more families around.
A council planner confirmed that plans are in place and they hope to have construction completed by the summer.
Councillor MacSharry welcomed the news and says the crossing is badly needed.
