Defeats for Leitrim and Donegal hurlers



There was disappointment for both the Donegal and Leitrim hurlers in the National League yesterday.

Donegal were beaten by a point away to Monaghan, while Leitrim lost out by 2-19 to 3-13 to Longford.

Elsewhere in the national league, Tipperary beat Waterford, Clare beat Kilkenny and Wexford defeated Galway.

Also in hurling, Cork’s Mayfield beat Kilkenny’s Mooncoin in the All-Ireland Junior Hurling final in Croke Park on Saturday.

Mayfield beat Sligo’s Calry/St Joseph’s in the semi-final.
In football, Westport are the first ever club from Mayo to lift the All-Ireland intermediate football title.
It’s after they beat St Colmcilles of Meath 2-12 to 3-8 at Croke Park.

And Sligo started their Connacht Minor League campaign with a defeat of Longford at the weekend.
