Calls for council to address derelict hotel in Ballyshannon

A Ballyshannon based councillor has called on Donegal county council to ensure redevelopment work on a former hotel in the middle of the town takes place.

Fine Gael’s Barry O’Neill says if the old Millstone hotel site is not redeveloped by the current owners it needs to be declared derelict by the council and a levy applied.

A similar directive was issued to the owners of the former Abbey Manor Hotel in Dromahair, Co. Leitrim in October and they have until the end of this month to get work done.

The Millstone hotel is currently privately owned by a housing development company who Councillor O’Neill says have done nothing with the site in almost 10 years.

He says he is putting a timeline on the council to get something done for the people of Ballyshannon:
