A man in his early 40s has been brought to the Beaumont Hospital in Dublin with what are believed to be serious injuries following an alleged assault in Boyle, Co Roscommon, this morning.
The incident occurred about 4:30am in Erris Bay housing estate in the town.
Another man, also in his 40s, has been arrested in realtion to the incident.
He is being detained at Roscommon Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
