A Donegal TD says supertrawlers off the coast of Donegal are threatening the livelihood of small fishermen in the area.
Independent TD Thomas Pringle says the problem of these mainly Dutch trawlers destroying the lobster and crab pots and other gear belonging to local fishermen is becoming an annual event.
He’s calling for the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority to clamp down on this but it says that it’s impossible to police and it’s up to the Gardai to monitor.
