A move east appears to be the only option for better job opportunities

A new survey indicates that many people in the West of Ireland accept that they will have to move east for better job opportunities.

The survey of 1500 Galwegians was carried out at the end of January by Jobs Expo Galway ahead of their careers expo on the 11th of February.

It shows that while over half of the people surveyed looked for work in Galway city or the western counties, 48% would move from the city for work purposes.

Another major finding is that most of the people they surveyed have no confidence in the government’s recently launched action plan for rural Ireland.

Kevin Branigan, Director of the Galway Jobs Expo says should be a concern for government:

The Galway Jobs Expo is taking place on the 11th of February at the Radisson Hotel in Galway.
