Anti-fracking campaigners say it’s time to ‘move on’ with Deputy McLoughlin’s bill

An anti-fracking group says it’s now time to move ahead with a Sligo/Leitrim TD’s Bill that would ban the controversial gas extraction method.

That’s one of the messages that will be delivered this afternoon during a press conference in Dublin.

It’s being organised by Love Leitrim, Friends of the Earth and a number of community and farm organisations in Buswell’s Hotel, at 2:15pm.

Meanwhile, the deadline for submissions on fracking to an Oireachtas committee has been extended from February 2nd to the 10th.

But Eddie Mitchell, of Love Leitrim, says Deputy McLoughlin’s Bill has already been unanimously passed in the Dail and it’s now time to move it on.
