35 people on trolleys at Letterkenny Hospital

The numbers waiting on trolleys in Letterkenny University Hospital remain very high today with 35 people waiting for admission.

The numbers waiting are the third highest in the country according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Trolley Watch report.

The full capacity protocol has been in place at the hospital since last week as management attempt to identify patients ready for discharge.

People are reminded to only attend the emergency department only in the case of a real emergency and should attend their GP or GP out of hours service in the first instance.

In Sligo there are five people on trolleys in the emergency department.

Nationally the INMO says there are 445 people waiting on trolleys with Limerick University Hospital the worst effected as 40 people await admission. University Hospital Cork is the next worst with 39.
