NWRA attempting to raise profile of North West in Europe

The Northern and Western Regional Assembly are hoping to get the North West recognised as an entrepreneur region within Europe.

This would lead to an increase in funding coming from Europe for Sligo, Donegal, Leitrim and six other counties involved in the Assembly.

Sligo Fianna Fail councillor Seamus Kilgannon is Cathaoirleach of the group which is based out of Ballaghadereen in Co. Roscommon.

The assembly are holding a meeting in Sligo today as they look to build on the county being named European Capital of Volunteering for 2017 and a submission to the EU will be discussed.

Fianna Fail’s Keith Henry is also on the assembley with Frank Dolan and Justin Warnock representing Leitirm and Seamus O’Domhnail, Jack Murray and Frank McBrearty from Donegal.

Speaking on Ocean FM this morning councillor Kilgannon says they have a duty to raise the profile of the region.
