GRA: Sligo Leitrim Garda division badly under-resourced



The Garda Representative Association says Gardai in the Sligo Leitrim division are clearly under-resourced based on the latest overtime figures.

The figures revealed this week by the Department of Justice show that overtime last year in Sligo Leitrim was one of the lowest in the region.

Just over 20,000 hours were clocked by Gardaí in the division compared to more than double that in the Donegal and Mayo divsions at 40,000 and over 53,000 hours respectively.

The Roscommon Longford and the Cavan Monaghan divisions also recorded much higher figures than Sligo Leitrim.

Spokesperson for the GRA in the North West, Garda Ray Wims says this comes on top of a significant reduction in Garda numbers since 2008:
