Local TDs hit out at rural plan as a ‘rehash’ of old schemes



There are calls for a more long-term strategic development plan for rural Ireland.

Local TDs are hitting out at the new plan announced yesterday stating it’s a rehash of old schemes and is short sighted in a time when rural services continue to be under threat.

Independent TD in Donegal Thomas Pringle says it’s ironic the government announced this new scheme at a time when post offices in the region are at risk of closure.

Meanwhile, Fianna Fail TD in Sligo Leitrim Marc MacSharry and Roscommon Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice are both accusing Fine Gael of ‘rehashing’ previous schemes.
