Councillor calls for extended Wild Atlantic Way routes in Leitrim

A Leitrim councillor has called for routes from the Wild Atlantic Way be extended farther south into County Leitrim.

Fine Gael Councillor John McCartin says there are only four kilometres of the Wild Atlantic Way in the county.

He says greenways and blueways are huge economic drivers that exceed expectations, and the same would apply if the Wild Atlantic Way went farther into Leitrim.

He raised the issue at a meeting of the county council this month saying there are many hidden gems in Leitrim that could be explored by extending routes off the Wild Atlantic Way.
