More ambulances needed to fix service

A Sligo/Leitrim TD says more ambulances on the road is the only way to fix problems with the service.

Sinn Fein deputy Martin Kenny says there is a crisis across rural Ireland because a management process put in place means ambulances are travelling the country rather than being stationed in their own area.

Deputy Kenny raised the issue with the Taoiseach in the Dail this week after being told of a child in Cavan recently having to be brought to hospital in a GP’s car because there was no ambulance available.

Speaking to Ocean FM he says resources are needed to ensure ambulances are there when people need them.
