The N16 Sligo to Enniskillen road at Glenfarne will be closed this morning from 9:30am to allow the removal of a crane that collapsed on Wednesday.
The incident happened on the Sligo side of Glenfarne, where major roadworks are being carried out.
The section of the N16 west of Glenfarne where the crane collapsed will be closed until 3:30 today.
Diversions will be in place.
Leitrim County Council has advice for motorists travelling in both directions.
Traffic from Sligo to Enniskillen should use the N15 as far as Ballyshannon, and from there use the N3/A46 to Enniskillen.
Traffic between Manorhamilton and Glenfarne will be diverted through Kiltyclogher along the R283 and R281.
It’s undertood two other cranes may be needed to remove the crane that collapsed.
It fell into a nearby river.
The county council is asking road users to make only essential journeys in the area today while the fallen crane is being removed.
