Letterkenny has highest numbers waiting for hospital bed nationally



Letterkenny University Hospital has the highest number of people waiting for admission today according to Irish Nurses and Midwives Figures.

There are 38 people waiting on trolleys in the hospital’s emergency department and overflow area of wards, an increase of seven on yesterday’s number.

The Saolta Hospital group have confirmed to Ocean FM the Full Capacity Protocol has been implemented at the hospital and all efforts continue to be made to identify patients who are appropriate for discharge.

The public are reminded to attend the Emergency Department only in the case of real emergencies and to contact their GP or GP Out-of-Hours service in the first instance

There are a further 10 people on trolleys in Sligo University Hospital’s emergency department.

Nationally there are 527 people waiting for a hospital bed according to today’s trolley watch report with 24 people waiting for a bed in Galway University Hospital and just two in Mayo.
