Donegal TD calls for swift implementation of insurance recommendations

A Donegal TD has called for swift implementation of some recommendations in the report on the cost of motor insurance.

Fianna Fail deputy Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher welcomed the report but says he has fears that the long term target date could lead to delays.

The first portion of the report is due to start at the end of February with a progress report planned for the early summer and a completion date of mid 2018.

The Cost of Insurance Working Group’s report made 33 recommendations across six main areas to put a halt to spiralling charges that have caused chaos for businesses and private citizens.

These include the establishment of a new personal injuries commission and a new national claims information database

Speaking to Ocean FM deputy Gallagher said mid 2018 is too far away for implementing any recommendations.
