Union warns main expressway bus links likely to be axed

Bus services between towns throughout the West and North West will effectively be gone under a €7 million cost-saving plan agreed by Bus Eireann, according to a local NBRU official.

Bus Eireann has reportedly been told to cut its Expressway services completely.

According to National Bus and Rail Union North West Representative Damien Healy, this poses a threat to a range of routes in this region.

They include services to Dublin from Sligo, Donegal, Ballina, Letterkenny and Westport as well as from Derry and Ballina to Galway.

Mr Healy says they have not yet seen the consultant’s report proposing the cuts but he is in no doubt about the routes that are under threat.
