Good turnout at Leitrim IFA meeting on ANC payments



There was a good turnout to a meeting organised by the IFA in Leitrim last night to discuss Areas of Natural Constraints.

Previously called the disadvantaged area payments, which over 70% of farmers in Ireland qualify for – they are now up for review.

The Department is assessing the areas as part of EU regulations.

There are fears marginalised land in the west will be taken out.

The IFA organised a well attended meeting last night.

Sinn Fein TD Martin Kenny and FF TD Eamon Scanlon attended.

Deputy Scanlon told Ocean FM this evening that he will bring the concerns of farmers to the Dail when it reconvenes next week:
