INMO official claims overcrowding figures are worse than figures show



An INMO official claims the overcrowding situation in some hospitals is actually worse than the union’s Trolley Watch figures suggest.

INMO Industrial Relations Officer Maura Hickey told Ocean FM this afternoon the truth is not being told about the real picture in hospitals when it comes to lack of beds and the pressure staff is under.

Giving Letterkenny University Hospital’s situation today as an example, she says the medical assessment unit, which would normally send patients home if they didn’t need a bed, can’t function because there are other patients in those beds.

The HSE’s warned that the flu outbreak, which is adding to numbers on trolleys, has yet to peak.
