Sligo’s Mercy College long-term plan is Gaelcholaiste for the region



The Principal of the Mercy Secondary School in Sligo says their long-term plan is to develop an independent Gaelcholáiste for the region.

Colette O’Hagan is welcoming last week’s approval of the first secondary gaelscoil not only for Sligo but also for Leitrim and south Donegal as well from next September.

The new unit will be based at the Mercy in Sligo town but it’s part of an overall plan to develop a ‘Gaelcholáiste’ in Sligo the next three to four years.

Ms. O’Hagan is urging as many prospective pupils to come along to an open day they are having on January 25th.

She says the success of the project depends on good enrollment numbers:
