LISTEN BACK: Treasurer Peter Greene on Sligo GAA’s 2016 accounts

O’Neill’s were confirmed as Sligo kit partners for the next three years, at the annual county convention at IT Sligo.

The manufacturers will replace Kukri as suppliers of the Yeats County gear for intercounty teams.

Also at the convention, the executive announced that the overall County Board debt had been reduced to under €1 million, down from over €1.7 million just three years ago.

A surplus of over €200,000 was recorded before depreciation, with income totalling over €1 million.

Commercial and fundraising income, gate receipts, Cul Camps income, and club affiliation and entry fees were all up, while the cost of running intercounty teams was almost half-a-million euro in total, up slightly on last year’s figure.

All of the outgoing officers were returned unopposed, meaning there was no election contests for a second year running.

Eddie MacHale stepped down as assistant treasurer, and with no new nominations from the clubs for any of the positions, the executive will fill that position in January.

All of the motions from the clubs on the night were either withdrawn or put forward for consideration by the relevant county committees in 2017.

Sligo GAA will re-launch Club Sligo for a new three-year period early in the new year as the County Board continue developments at the Sligo GAA Centre in Scarden.

A sand-based training pitch at the centre is currently underway construction, and the next phase of the development will see the car park surfaced and extra lighting installed.
