Calls for Health Minister to appoint second breast consultant

There are calls for the Health Minister to address the serious health issues in Donegal like the lack of a second breast check surgeon in Letterkenny.

That’s according to Fianna Fail deputy pat the Cope Gallagher ahead of the visit of the Minister to Donegal on Monday.

Minister Simon Harris will open the Donegal Medical Academy in Letterkenny.

While there, however, Deputy Gallagher is calling for the Fine Gael Minister to meet local Health Groups and discuss the ongoing over-crowding crisis which has seen high numbers on trolleys at Letterkenny University Hospital a number of times recently.

Deputy Gallagher says a number of issues at local community hospitals also need to be discussed but most pressing is for him to ensure the second breast consultant at the hospital:

Meanwhile, the number on trolleys at University Hospital Letterkenny is down to 5 today from 27 yesterday but up to 9 at Sligo University Hospital.
