Donegal County Council is partnership with Derry, Strabane



The chief executive of Donegal County Council says a key aim of a new north/south partnership will be to promote economic growth and investment in the north-west region.

Seamus Neely says the other two key aims of the partnership are physical and environmental development as well as what he described as ‘social and community cohesion.’

The partnership, which will hold its inaugural meeting in Derry today (Wed), involves Donegal County Council and Derry City and Strabane District Council.

It also includes senior representatives from government departments in the Republic and the North, and is the first grouping of its kind on the island of Ireland.
