LGBT people in rural areas in particular still face difficulties coming out



Some people still face difficulties in coming out as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender especially in close-knit rural communities such as in the west and north west.

That’s according to Paula Fagan, coordinator of the LGBT Helpline, during the launch today in Galway of a new guide to LGBT support services in Connacht.

As well as helping LGBT people, the new guide is also for medical professionals and anyone working in support services.
