Efforts underway to reunite Cavan constituency



A new effort is underway to have Cavan reunited as one county for the purpose of Dail elections.

At present, part of Cavan is in with Sligo/Leitrim and South Donegal.

Fianna Fail Councillor John Paul Feehily says they are particularly eager to raise the profile of the countywide campaign in the areas of Blacklion, Glangevlin and Dowra.

Cllr Feehily is secretary of Killinagh Community Council which is holding a meeting on the issue tonight (Friday) at 9:30pm in the Market House in Blacklion.

At the meeting, signatures will be collected for a petition organised by the Anglo Celt newspaper.

Cllr Feehly told Ocean FM why it was important to the people of the West Cavan area to have the county reunited as one for general election purposes:
