TD raises concerns over orthodontic waiting times

A Sligo/Leitrim TD has called on the Taoiseach to review the entire waiting list system as promised in the programme for government.

Sinn Fein deputy Martin Kenny was speaking in the Dail about the lengthy waiting list for teenagers receiving orthodontic services.

He claimed in the Dail this that there are families with children waiting up to three years for treatment in the north west.

Deputy Kenny says the Taoiseach was not forthcoming with any commitment to reduce waiting times.

He says the waiting period can have an effect on the mental health of teenagers.

Ocean FM News is awaiting details from the HSE on the actual waiting times in the north west for this treatment.
