Minister says improving infrastructure key to more jobs



The Minister for Jobs says developing infrastructure in the north west is key to creating more employment in the region.

Fine Gael Minister Mary Mitchell-O’Connor who is a native of Milltown in Galway was guest speaker at the Sligo Chamber of Commerce dinner over the weekend.

She says a €40 million fund is being developed for the new Atlantic Economic Corridor.

While still at an early stage the initiative which is the brainchild of Chambers of Commerce along the west coast including Sligo, the Minister said it would be a powerful marketing tool for the west.

She also said the government is committed to the over €100million capital funding for roads projects in Sligo such as the new N4 bypass.

However, she says other developments such as the N17 Galway road and the N15 to Donegal are also key to development here:
