Local politicians working together to save Ballygawley Post Office



All local politicians are working together to ensure the post office service in Ballygawley is kept open.

An Post are currently reviewing the facility following the recent death of the postmaster and are accepting public proposals until December 2nd.

Today all members of Sligo county council signed a petition to keep the service open.

Speaking following a meeting of the council this morning Sinn Fein’s Thomas Healy who is a member of the save Ballygawley post office committee outlined what the group have planned.

Following a meeting on Saturday morning with the committee Deputy’s Eamon Scanlon, Martin Kenny and Tony McLoughlin have agreed to meet with An Post and the Minister for Communications.

Fine Gael deputy McLoughlin said the Oireachtas members will wait and see how the committee’s work plays out before speaking with those in charge.
