The application process for the 2017 sports capital programme is commencing shortly and a Sligo/Leitrim TD is urging sports clubs to prepare in advance.
Fine Gael deputy Tony McLoughlin says the minister for sport confirmed the application process will begin in January 2017.
The grants were re-instated in 2012 having been cut during the economic crash and have provided funding to many sports clubs and organisations throughout the north west.
For applications to be successful clubs and organisations must have matching funds and the necessary paperwork which deputy McLoughlin advises should be arranged in advance.
He told Ocean FM that Sligo, Leitrim and South Donegal have seen the benefits of the grants in recent years.
