US election result a blow to undocumented Irish campaign



The election of Donald Trump as President is a blow to the campaign for the undocumented Irish.

Former Bundoran Town Councillor Mick McMahon is a campaigner for the rights of the over 50,000 undocumented Irish in the US who are unable to come home.

He says that while the progress being made in the last few years has been slow, it has been positive.

The campaign has been calling to grant them a status whereby they would be able to come and go freely.

However, Donald Trump wants to restrict immigration and deport those living illegally.

However, Mick McMahon says they are now very worried about the future of the campaign but he hopes that Mr. Trump will reconsider his position on the issue:
