Higher garda presence needed in north Leitrim

A higher garda presence is needed to put a stop to the recent spate of robberies in north Leitrim.

That’s according to Fine Gael councillor Sean McDermott.

Three tractors, a quad bike and log splitter were stolen in the Glenfarne and Dromahair areas of north Leitrim last weekend.

One of the tractors stolen was of sentimental value to the owners.

Gardai in Manorhamilton are appealing to the public for any information on the robberies which took place on Friday November 4 and Monday November 7.

Councillor Sean McDermott told Ocean FM that thieves take a calculated risk in rural areas such as north Leitrim that they are not going to be caught.

He says there is a lack of fear amongst those carrying out the thefts.
