Eight minors waiting 15 months for Psychiatric treatment in Donegal

There are a number of under 18’s waiting up to 15 months for psychiatric treatment in county Donegal.

The figures, which were provided to Sinn Fein TD Pearse Doherty following a parliamentary question, show there are 129 minors waiting for an appointment with Donegal mental health services psychiatrists.

Eight of those have been on the waiting list for 15 months.

There are also 134 adults waiting over 12 months for appointments.

It follows the news earlier this year that a vacancy for an addiction counsellor in Donegal was not being filled. Last month the position was filled on a part time basis.

Deputy Doherty told Ocean FM he wants to ensure Donegal’s minors are treated with the support they deserve.
