Hopes for extra time for students sitting state exams

Leitrim County Council is to contact the Minister for Education calling on the State Examinations Commission to introduce stand-alone additional time for students with Dyslexia and other learning difficulties while sitting examinations.   Manorhamilton Independent Councillor James Gilmartin recently raised the issue at a meeting of the Local Authority.   The secondary school teacher says

Investigations continuing into N17 collision

Investigations are continuing following a three-vehicle road-traffic collision on the N17 in south Sligo.   On Friday, Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene at Falnasooguan.   The collision involving a van and two cars took place shortly before 5.20pm.   No injuries were reported at the time.

Man in custody following Leitrim firearm seizure

A man remains in Garda custody following a firearm seizure in County Leitrim. It comes after Gardaí responded to an emergency call at a house in the Killargue area. Shortly after 3.20pm, following an intervention by the Armed Support Unit, including the deployment of a taser, a man was arrested outside the house, and a
