A new divisional headquarters for An Garda Siochana in Sligo has been identified as a priority for the Sligo/Leitrim Division.
It had previously been agreed in principle between the Gardai and the department of justice, and now the go-ahead has been given for a new station.
The necessary work has also commenced to draft the preliminary business case which may take a number of months to complete.
