There were mixed fortunes for the Abbey Vocational School senior gaelic football teams on Friday in their respective Ulster colleges competitions.
AVS senior boys fotoballers booked their place in the quarter-finals of the MacRory Cup after an impressive 2-12 to 0-8 win over Cathair Dhoire (Amalgamation of Derry City schools) at GAA Centre of Excellence in Convoy.
The Donegal Town side will have a home MacRory quarter-final in January.
Meanwhile, the AVS senior girls team were unlucky to lose out narrowly to Rathmore of Belfast in Friday’s Ulster shield semi-final at Celtic Park – the Belfast school winning by two points, 3-7 to 1-11.
Separately, defending MacRory and Hogan Cup champions Omagh CBS will be South West Donegal’s quarter-final opponents in this season’s competition following their 1-14 to 1-9 play-off win over St Paul’s Bessbrook
