Saolta Hospital Group have this afternoon, have released a statement regarding waiting times at Letterkenny University Hospital.
This comes following the news that LUH had 171 people attending at the Emergency Department on Wednesday and the hospital is seeing similar high numbers today.
The hospital are advising that patients who attend ED for routine and non-urgent treatment will experience very long waiting times.
They go on to say all available beds in the hospital are in use.
Patients are facing long waiting times to be admitted from the Emergency Department to a bed on a ward.
The medical staff are committed to seeking to all patients who are present in the emergency department, but do so in order of medical priority.
The hospital acknowledges that these delays are very difficult for patients and their families and apologises for the inconvenience and distress these delays cause.
