The Sligo-Leitrim constituency count reached a conclusion shortly before 1am on Monday morning with the election of Eamon Scanlon (FF) and Marian Harkin (Ind).
Both candidates were elected following the elimination of Independant Ireland’s Michael Clarke after Count 13.
Scanlon regains the seat he lost in the 2020 election.
He finished with 10,285 votes – while Harkin received 10,168.
Michael Clarke, who was in strong contention for a seat all weekend, eventually finished with 9287 votes.
The means the four Sligo-Leitrim TDs who’ll be part of the 34th Dáil are:
- Frank Feighan (FG) 12,241 votes – Count 11
- Martin Kenny (SF) 15,433 votes – Count 12
- Eamon Scanlon (FF) 10,285 votes – Count 13
- Marian Harkin (Ind) 10,168 – Count 13.
