I am contesting the upcoming general election as a Fianna Fáil candidate, to
be a strong local voice at the decision making table of government because I
believe our communities deserve more and that I have the skills to deliver for
our region. I am married to Niall and mother to five children.
I am currently Head of School for Nursing at ATU St Angela’s, where I acted as President through the
period of negotiations for amalgamation with ATU. My life has provided extensive
lived experiences. Your issues are my issues. I understand the cost of living
challenges, the frustration at the lack of housing and infrastructure and I, like you,
demand more for our area.
I have always had a passion for politics bore out of admiration of the political achievements of my Uncle Ray MacSharry(Former Minister
of Agriculture , Finance & EU Commissioner of Agriculture) and cousin Marc
MacSharry TD.
My father Louis and my mother Imelda( nee Egan Ballymote)
instilled in me the value of contribution to our community. I was honoured to be
recently elected as a councillor in the Sligo Drumcliffe LEA and to be serving as Leas
Cathaoirleach is a special privilege indeed. The key purpose in my life has been to
make a difference to the quality of people’s lives.
As a mother, an ICU nurse, an educator, charity and community activist with a doctor of education, this purpose and
my determination have guided my every act. If elected to serve in Dail Eireann on
your behalf, I believe this ethos, my life’s experience, commitment, and
determination to deliver can make a real difference for our communities.
For this reason, I humbly ask for consideration for your N0 1 vote or highest
available preference in the upcoming election.
